This wedding cake features a sugar ribbon with sheet music from the couple’s wedding song, “When You Wish Upon a Star”. Both the bride and groom are music teachers and avid Disney fans. The black and white design was contrasted with fresh deep red roses. Black satin ribbon bordered the tiers and the back of the cake was finished with matching bows.

Alex is a teenage ‘foodie’ with a refined palette and an above average appreciation for cake artistry. For her 16th birthday she toured Boston’s finest bakeries…not a common request of a teenager on a landmark birthday. So I was honored when her Mom called me to order the celebration cake. This Monsters, Inc cake design focused on her favorite character from the movie, Mike. Both the gift box and monster are layers of cake and filling and the embellishments are all edible. And the flavor? A combination of milk and dark chocolate cakes filled with hazelnut and chocolate filling and laced with toasted crushed hazelnuts, Alex’s favorite. Need I say more?!
Happy Sweet 16 Alex! Thank you for letting me be a part of your day!

This “Stack O’ Books” cake was made for a 50th birthday celebration. Her favorite titles were chosen and the spines and covers were hand painted to replicate the original publications. A sugar bookmark with a birthday wish finishes the design.

This cake was designed for a Lia Sophia sales rep that was celebrating her 40th birthday. The edible jewelry was accented by sugar butterflies inspired by the company’s logo.

Jason is a big fan of Marvel’s Super Hero Squad and his absolute favorite character is Wolverine. The chocolate cake featured Wolverine’s blades cutting through the cake with the phrase that signals the squad into action, “Hero Up!”. All details of the details were edible including Wolverine’s blades.

Baby shower cakes don’t always have to be cutesy pink or blue. This cake was designed for a pirate themed shower that was held in an old-boat-turned-restaurant…inspired by the new arrival’s new bedding. The carrot cake chest was propped open and held a bounty of butter cream pearls and hand made coins and gems. It sat in the cookie sand surrounded by sugar shells and featured a matching heart shaped lock and key. The finishing touch… a custom painted treasure map.

Matty is an avid bike rider and loves Mello Yello so much that, not only does he buy it by the case, he has a tattoo of it! This birthday cake was customized with a can (logo to match his ink) and a bike gear. You see, this past summer Matty rode in the toughest mountain bike challenge there is…the Leadville 100. He even had a cameo in this year’s Race Across the Sky movie. Matty works at Bike Works, a local bike shop in Swansea where the staff is passionate about cycling and is willing and able to help you find the right fit. If your looking for anything cycling related check out www.bikeworksma.com. And when you stop in, bring Matty a Mello Yello…

This Banana Cake with Butter Rum Icing was designed for a sewing, knitting, and needlecraft enthusiast. The scarf was knit from butter cream and the buttons and ribbon embellishments were sugar paste. A cross stitched message complete with sugar needle and icing thread finish the look.
Guitar cakes are quite the challenge but oh so fun! I love trying to add in all the details…like the split veneer star burst pattern of the Gibson Les Paul cake or the quarter on the Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein cake. Guitars and cake…what a great way to celebrate!

These popular toy figurines guarded their vanilla bean chocolate chip cake toy box for a set of twin boys as they celebrated their 4th birthday. The box sat on another cake covered in a sugar cow skin rug and a chocolate ‘hardwood floor’.
